Recruitment Guidelines
Nondiscrimination Policy

Additionally, as a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), we expect employer partners to follow the NACE Principles for Ethical Professional Practice, maintain an accessible and equitable recruiting practice, and support Bennington interns in making informed decisions.
Excluded Practices
The Career Development and Field Work Term Office may decline internships, employment opportunities, and recruiting events from the following:
- Third-party recruiters or promoters
- Home-based businesses, in-home dependent/childcare positions, and private individuals
- Organizations offering existing services provided by the Career Development and Field Work Term Office such as resume and cover letter writing and career counseling
- Companies offering commission-based opportunities or that may require any upfront payment or investment from the candidate prior to employment
- Employers who do not meet internship compensation standards as outlined by the U.S. Department of Labor
- Employees using non-company-specific email domains; consideration for non-profit organizations without a corporate email domain will be handled on an individual basis
Posting a Position
On Handshake, Bennington students can browse and apply for internship opportunities, on-campus jobs, and post-graduation employment. Create an employer account to post recruiting opportunities and events directly to our students, manage candidate applications, and explore Bennington student profiles. Creating an account is free and takes just a few minutes. Once you have set up your account, search for Bennington College and request employer approval.

We will only approve events that are appropriate for our students and recent graduates. We reserve the right to decline employer-sponsored programming that interferes with activities hosted by the Career Development and Field Work Term Office or major academic calendar events.
Employer events may include:
- One-on-one and cohort information sessions
- Virtual and on-campus interviews
- Interactive workshops and panel sessions

- Dec 9 | Last day to add/change FWT position for Winter 2025

- Jan 6 | Winter 2025 Field Work Term begins
- Feb 14 | Winter 2025 Field Work Term ends
- Feb 18 | Classes begin (Spring 2025)
