The Bennington College community mourns the loss of friend and pioneering dance choreographer Merce Cunningham, who died on Sunday, July 26, at the age of 90 years old.
Bennington's 2009 Senior Art Show opened on Wednesday, May 13, in the College's Usdan Gallery.
With a substantial, multi-year grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Bennington will establish a new interdisciplinary environmental studies program. Beginning this September, the program will unfold in the context of the College's major new curricular initiative, which aims to address public needs of urgency, complexity, and importance.
Bennington College will host the 28th annual Black Maria Film and Video Festival, an international juried competition and award tour, on Tuesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the College's Tishman Lecture Hall. The event, part of this spring's Visual Arts Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.
Bennington President Elizabeth Coleman was a guest on Vermont Public Radio's Vermont Edition on February 12 to discuss plans for the Center for the Advancement of Public Action, a building that will embody Bennington's new curricular initiative. Construction on the project is expected to begin this spring.
