Planning for Next Steps and Fall Term

Senior and Post-Grad Job Search Support

The Career Development and Field Work Term staff encourages graduating students to arrange a meeting with an advisor to discuss their post-graduate job search. These sessions provide an opportunity to explore job search resources, receive valuable feedback on application materials, and participate in mock interviews to refine interviewing skills. Students may request an advising appointment via Handshake here.

Summer Field Work Term Registration

Students are advised to apply for and register their Field Work Term (FWT) experiences early as summer positions typically have early application deadlines. Students may request a Field Work Term Search Planning Appointment via Handshake or stop by during our drop-in hours on Wednesdays and Fridays, 1:00 - 5:00 pm, at our temporary location in the Andrew H. Schwartz, PhD., Parlor (Admissions Wing of the Barn).

To assist with gathering information to register a FWT experience via Handshake, students are encouraged to use the Career Development and Field Work Term Office’s Registration Prep Worksheet, which provides an overview of the information and materials required for the Field Work Term registration process.

Summer FWT Deadlines

Students are expected to register and complete an approved FWT each academic year. Failure to register will result in a fail assessment. Retroactive registrations (over the summer) will not be considered.

Ordering Course Materials for Fall Term

Course materials and textbooks for your fall courses will be visible in Bennington College’s academic information system, Populi. In late July check the “Info” page for each course within Populi—just click on the name of the course in your schedule, and make sure you’re on the “Info” tab. Students are encouraged to review these pages, and to order all required course materials from a vendor of their choosing, well before the term begins. Although a limited number of books will be available for each class in the on-campus bookstore, these are primarily intended to facilitate the add/drop process.

Check-In

College housing will reopen for the fall term at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 1 (more details to come over the summer). If you are required (for on-campus employment) to arrive earlier you must secure advanced permission from Residential Life. Any student who arrives prior to opening without advance permission from the Office of Student Life will be fined $200 the first day, $300 the next day, and an additional $100 each day beyond that. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Albany to Bennington Transportation

The extended shuttle schedule for the beginning of term will be available beginning August 1 (see Transportation page).
