Lum Gets Rave Reviews for Recent Show
Faculty member Mary Lum received high praise in recent issues of Art in America and Artforum for her solo exhibition Edge Conditions, which was on display at Frederieke Taylor gallery in New York earlier this year.
The exhibition featured paintings, drawings, and collages, and included a large wall drawing that wrapped around the gallery.
"The combination turns out to be breathtaking," wrote one critic in Artforum, "full of the movement of time and space collapsing and then opening up again like an accordion."
Art in America called the exhibition "gorgeous."
"In her deceptively small, fastidious collages, Mary Lum achieves grandeur of scale through the delineation of compromised and conditional spaces."
Lum, who has had solo and group exhibitions at esteemed museums and galleries around the world, joined the Bennington faculty in 2005.
