Harris Examines Spanish Civil War in Comics
Language faculty member Sarah Harris and Enrique del Rey Cabero discuss the Spanish Civil War in Comics in a two-part conversation published in Comics Forum.
The two scholars, both working on memory and Spanish comics, touch on the current comics scene in Spain, the Civil War and its aftermath, the representation of the war in recent graphic novels and comics, and possible pedagogical opportunities for using some of these publications in the classroom. Here are parts one and two of the discussion.
Harris, a member of the faculty in Bennington's Isabelle Kaplan Center for Languages and Cultures at Bennington since 2009, is a specialist in narratives of trauma, testimony, remembering, and forgetting in contemporary Spanish fiction. For more on her work, see her Academia page.
