OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | This years Robert H. Woodworth Lecture in the Sciences brings Emeritus faculty member, Dr Elizabeth Sherman, back to Bennington! During her tenure as a biology professor at Bennington College, Dr. Sherman became increasingly concerned about the public understanding of science. She integrated this interest into her research and teaching on evolution, physiology, and animal behavior.

Dr. Sherman’s work has been supported by numerous awards and grants, with her publications appearing in both peer-reviewed scientific journals and popular magazines. She has also played an active role in science education throughout Vermont, collaborating with students, teachers, and administrators at local, regional, and state levels.

A frequent public speaker, Dr. Sherman has delivered lectures on science across New England. Beyond academia, she is an avid scuba diver, underwater photographer, and grandmother.
