The Garment Collective

The Garment Collective is a weekly club at Bennington College dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment where students from disciplines—including costume, fashion, textile and wearable arts—come together to learn, create, and inspire. Our mission is to support portfolio building, resource gathering, and creative brainstorming, while offering a space for critique and exploring the fundamentals of sewing, serging, patternmaking, fittings, and fabric knowledge.

We are committed to cultivating a culture of skill-sharing through teaching sessions and peer-led workshops, offering a platform for every member to lead and learn. With a focus on growing digital resource hub, we provide the tools and support necessary to elevate each individual’s craft and professional network.

Through critiques, hands-on practice, and shared learning, the Garment Collective empowers students to refine their skills, explore new techniques, and push the boundaries of their creative expression.
