Andreea Coscai '22: Podcasting for Collaboration and Multicultural Understanding

Andreea Coscai '22 is the marketing lead at Tink Media and the founder and writer of the European podcasting newsletter Eurowaves. She shared how her time at Bennington College shaped her path in audio and podcasting.

Tell us about your current career—where are you working, and in what position?

Since graduating, I’ve been working in podcasting, exploring everything from production and voice-over acting to social media management and public relations and marketing. Currently, I help podcasters grow their audiences through Tink Media and support storytellers in reaching new listeners at Earbuds Podcast Collective.

Since returning to Romania nearly two years ago, I’ve also been exploring the European podcasting space, looking for ways to build connections across industries and cultures. I have run Eurowaves, a European podcasting newsletter since the end of 2024. International collaboration is key to expanding podcast listenership—and ultimately, building multicultural understanding.

What is the most rewarding and/or challenging aspect of your work now?

The beauty of audio is in its unique storytelling capacity. At Tink, I work with podcasters across all formats, from chatty conversations to deep investigative pieces. No matter the style, it’s always about exploring and sharing the human experience. Audio creators are incredibly passionate about their work, and helping them reach wider audiences is very rewarding.

What aspects of studying at Bennington prepared you best for the professional world?

Bennington taught me the value of taking initiative and creating my own opportunities. Field Work Terms provided me with hands-on experience early on, showing me the importance of building connections, staying proactive, and reflecting on my journey. Whether in podcasting or any other field, Bennington students graduate with a mindset that keeps them steps ahead of others.

How has attending Bennington shaped your professional path?

Although Bennington doesn’t have a traditional audio program, the opportunities at the College shaped my path in podcasting. Senem Pirler’s audio classes always encouraged me to explore the full potential of the medium and rethink how stories can be told, pushing the boundaries of sound. My studies in gender, anthropology, and psychology were also influential. They gave me a deeper understanding of the world and the stories I want to share. In many ways, my work in podcasting and my work on social issues are inseparable. Her Time Romania, the nonprofit I founded while at Bennington, is proof of that. Since graduating, I had the honor of interviewing Gloria Steinem for the first time for a Romanian audience.

How do you keep the things you learned at Bennington in mind personally and/or professionally?

Bennington taught me to trust my instincts and pursue what excites me, even when the path isn’t traditional or clear. By staying curious, experimenting, and embracing new directions, I’ve found that opportunities open up in unexpected ways. No matter where my work takes me, it will always be grounded in my core values—social impact, storytelling, and building international connections that inspire communities to take action.
