Mikhail Calliste
Mikhail Calliste is a Trinidadian dance artist and maker.
Biography
Born in the vibrant islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Calliste never imagined that dance would become such a central part of his life. Growing up amidst a rich cultural tapestry, his fascination with movement ignited at an early age. The colorful celebrations of Carnival and traditional dances that reflected the island's heritage sparked his passion and helped him discover his purpose. Moving to New York opened up a world of artistic opportunities, enabling him to explore movement while staying connected to his roots. With an unwavering dedication, Calliste is committed to pushing the boundaries of his artistic expression. It is Calliste’s hope to continue to indulge in movement creation and research with the intention to further cultivate and define their artistry.
Calliste is a visiting faculty member in the BFA Dance Lab at Bennington for Fall 2024.
