Omens, Ampersands, and Friday the 13th
Local indie-folk-rock musical artist Carling Berkhout '19 spoke to The Brattleboro Reformer about her latest album, Omens.
“I think my Bennington College education definitely influenced this,” Berkhout told The Brattleboro Reformer. “I studied a very specific kind of writing, or genre, which is called dirty realism. And, a lot of that is hyper-focused on word choice, and specifically on consecution — so, like, what words follow the words and how they’re all in a relationship to each other, sonically.”
