OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | The Visual Arts Painting and Drawing area is pleased to announce that artist Angela Dufresne will be on campus to give a lecture about her work and process.

Angela Dufresne is a painter based in Brooklyn, NY. Through painting, drawing, printmaking, performative works, and community building, she wields heterotopic narratives that are both nonhierarchical and unapologetically perverse, conjuring the rage, piss, and vinegar and passion of being female in America in 2024.

Dufresne received an MFA from Tyler School of Art and a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. She is currently a Professor of Painting at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Guggenheim Fellowship, MacDowell Residency, Yaddo Residency, and a Jerome Foundation Fellowship, among many others. Her work has been exhibited widely including at museums such as MoMA PS1, the Hammer Museum, Leslie-Lohman Museum, and the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
