OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Get ready for the grand opening of the Bennington Community Market (239 Main Street, Bennington, VT), a community-supported grocery store that supports local farmers, revitalizes downtown, and makes healthy food accessible! The Bennington Community Market and the Better Bennington Corporation invite you to join them for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Bennington Community Market has been made possible through a grant Bennington College secured from Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to collaboratively explore and address food insecurity in Bennington County.

Through a three-year collaborative effort, local partners worked to address the systemic causes of food insecurity in Bennington County. Downtown Bennington was designated as a "food desert," where residents do not have enough access to fresh produce and face food insecurity, as well as higher rates of poverty and unemployment.

In response, a coalition of citizens formed a nonprofit organization to create the Bennington Community Market. This group committed to making the market welcoming and affordable to low-income individuals.

The Bennington Community Market aims to create a membership model for low-income individuals to have access to fresh foods from the market.

Local partners are excited to open the market’s doors and bring fresh, locally-sourced products to the community. Please come to be a part of this exciting milestone and to support local vendors.
