The Drama Discipline group at Bennington with support from the Presidents Working Group and in partnership with Everyman Theatre, is excited to highlight creativity and the arts and Bennington's own history in sharing—Queens Girl: Black in the Green Mountains by Caleen Sinnette Jennings '72.
This initiative will ensure access to a story that directly connects a student's real world experience in the late 1960's to current dynamics on campus today. We will meet the character Jacqueline Marie Butler as she steps foot at Bennington for the first time, following the next four years of her life as she deepens her understanding of herself as an artist, woman, and person of color in the Bennington landscape.
In partnership with Everyman Theatre, Bennington College will host an Essential Conversation that explores key questions the play highlights with faculty, students, and the alum playwright alike on April 10, following the screening access period.
Access the streamable performance, which will be available from March 29-April 10 to Bennington faculty, staff, and students, and has been shared via email.
