OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Dawn Lundy Martin is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Good Stock, Strange Blood (Coffee House, 2017), described as “bold, formally innovative prose poems that challenge our ideas of race, voice, bodies, and justice.” Co-editor of the new anthology Letters to the Future: Black WOMEN/Radical WRITING (Kore, 2018), she also co-edited The Fire This Time: Young Activists and the New Feminism (Anchor, 2004). Martin is cofounder of the Third Wave Fund, a national grantmaking organization for gender-justice youth activism; a member of the Black Took Collective, a group of experimental black poets embracing critical theory about gender, race, and sexuality; and a member of the HOWDOYOUSAYYAMINAFRICAN? global arts collective. She is Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh, where she directs the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics.
