Student Work
An Extraordinary Talent
Award-winning pianist Tony Lu ’19, who overcame his visual impairment to become a virtuosic musician learning to play by ear, led the regional Sage City Symphony in a performance of the third movement of German composer Johannes Brahm's Concerto in D Minor, Op. 15.
"He's quite extraordinary," said Sage City Music Director Michael Finckel. "He knows the work inside and out."
Before attending Bennington, where he studies math, history, and piano performance, Lu was named winner of the Alton Symphony Orchestra's concerto competition, and earned second prize in the Chicago Young Artist Chamber Music Competition.
