Stefania Heim
Stefania Heim is an award-winning poet, scholar, translator, editor and educator, committed to the intersections between these pursuits.
Biography
Heim is author of the poetry collection A Table That Goes On for Miles, which was selected by Brenda Shaughnessy as winner of the Gatewood Prize and published in 2014 by Switchback Books. In 2015, she was selected as one of the Poetry Society of America's "New American Poets." Heim is a Poetry Editor at Boston Review and a founding editor of CIRCUMFERENCE: Poetry in Translation. Her poems, translations, and essays have appeared in A Public Space, Aufgabe, Jacket2, Hambone, Harvard Review, The Journal of Narrative Theory, The Literary Review, The Paris Review, and other publications. Geometry of Shadows, her volume of translations of the Italian poems of metaphysical painter Giorgio de Chirico, will be published by A Public Space Books; and an essay on Walt Whitman, archives, and amputation will appear in the collection 21|19: Readings in Proximity (forthcoming, Milkweed Editions). Heim holds an AB magna cum laude in Literature from Harvard College, an MFA in Poetry from Columbia University, and a PhD in English from the CUNY Graduate Center. She has taught at institutions including Columbia University, Deep Springs College, Duke University, and Hunter College; in 2016 she was the Richard Hugo Poet in Residence at the University of Montana. Heim was a visiting faculty member at Bennington for Spring 2018.
