Black Maria Film Festival Comes to Bennington
Bennington College will host the 28th annual Black Maria Film and Video Festival, an international juried competition and award tour, on Tuesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the College's Tishman Lecture Hall. The event, part of this spring's Visual Arts Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.
Since 1981, the Black Maria Film and Video Festival has been exhibiting and rewarding cutting edge works from independent film and video makers. The festival is known for its national public exhibition program, which features a variety of contemporary works drawn from the annual collection of 50 award winning films and videos. Focused primarily on short works that reveal an inventive, insightful, and uncommon spirit, Black Maria disperses more than $10,000 in cash awards to independent filmmakers each year. The festival tours across the United States to more than 55 institutions annually.
