A New York-based media artist, Zurkow's works comprise part of a series of animated paintings whose themes circulate around speculative fictions of the deluge and climate change, and of water, ice, animals, and people. The pieces embody a tension between their cartoon forms, the natural sciences, eco-activism, and apocalyptic fantasy.
Accompanied by an essay by independent curator Michael Connor, Crossing the Waters will be on display in Usdan Gallery (open Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm) until Saturday, March 27.
