Students Train with Local Rescue Group over Field Work Term

Four Bennington College students participated in an intensive EMT training course over the College's annual Field Work Term (FWT), a seven-week period during which students take on jobs, internships, and entrepreneurial endeavors related to their studies and professional ambitions.

The course, which consisted of more than 250 hours of in-class time as well as clinical work in the field and at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, was hosted by the Bennington Rescue Squad (BRS), which is in need of qualified personnel to fill positions, said executive director Forest Weyen.

"These students will become an asset to the community, the college, and have experiences and education for life," Weyen told the Brattleboro Reformer. "Hopefully these students will join Bennington Rescue or their local EMS agency and start to make a difference."
