Faculty, Alumna Newt Research Garners Attention
In the current issue of Northern Woodlands, biology faculty member Betsy Sherman discusses a recent study she conducted with alumna Katie Van Munster ’08 on red-spotted newts in Vermont.
The study, which was originally published in the journal Northeastern Naturalists, found that eastern red-spotted newts are able to adapt and survive in dramatically different aquatic conditions. “The newts, and perhaps other animals, may be adapting to conditions that have been presented to them by humans,” says Sherman.
