David Bond Awarded the New Directions Prize
David Bond has been awarded the New Directions Prize by the American Anthropological Association (AAA).
Now in its seventh year, the New Directions Prize is awarded each year to an individual scholar for distinguished work in public anthropology. Each year, the award celebrates the work of an individual scholar that is expanding the relevance of anthropology to the public and the pursuit of justice.
The award committee made special mention of Bond's work with students to ban the burning of AFFF at the Norlite Incinerator in Cohoes, NY and to close the Limetree Refinery in St. Croix.
The award will be given at a special ceremony at the annual conference of the American Anthropological Association in Seattle this November.
