CAPA Leadership Institute

Twelve young professionals from the Middle East will be coming to Bennington College for 10 days in mid-September to work on environmental sustainability.

Participants will be attending from Israel, Jordan, and Palestine. Many of them have worked together previously at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in Israel. In addition to time together at Bennington to discuss how to advance environmental sustainability in their individual work and countries, the participants will meet with students to discuss how to bring one’s work to the world, as well as attend classes and workshops on mediation and conflict resolution. Participants will also work with faculty mentors to produce individual strategic plans that they can bring back with them to the Middle East.

Funded by a grant from the Davis foundation, the Leadership Institute is rooted in both the conflict resolution and environmental sustainability work being done at the College’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action (CAPA).
