"Cannibal" Highly Anticipated
The buzz around Cannibal by Safiya Sinclair '10 continues to grow. The book, while still unpublished, has already been recognized by the Prairie Schooner Book Prize as their 2015 winner. Now, Cannibal appears Publishers Weekly's "Most Anticipated Books of Fall 2016."
Sinclair has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors. She was the winner of the 2015 Boston Review Poetry Contest, and the Whiting Award, which recognizes a select few poets for their early accomplishments and future potential.
Her work has caught the attention of major literary publications, such as the Paris Review, who wrote a piece about her in March of 2016, when she won the Whiting. The article includes one of her poems, "Home."
Her forthcoming book of poetry, Cannibal, exists in tension and dialogue with The Tempest, and is also informed and influenced by her childhood in Jamaica.
