OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Don Mee Choi is the winner of a Whiting Award, a Lannan Literary Fellowship, and the Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Prize. She is the author of the poetry collections Hardly War (Wave Books, 2016) and The Morning News Is Exciting (Action Books, 2010); and the translator of Korean poet Kim Hyesoon’s collections of poetry, including Poor Love Machine (2016), I’m OK, I’m Pig! (2014); and Sorrowtoothpaste Mirrorcream (2014), a finalist for a PEN Poetry in Translation Award. She also translates for the International Women’s Network Against Militarism (IWNAM). In 2016, Wave Books published her pamphlet of lectures on translation, race, and politics, Freely Frayed,ᄏ=q, & Race=Nation. Born in Seoul, Choi came to the U.S. via Hong Kong, and now lives in Seattle, where she teaches Adult Basic Education.
