Carriage Barn Concert Series - Spring 2022
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Carriage Barn Music Series presents Traditional Music of Turkmenistan with Oghlan Bakhshi.
Mohammad Geldi Geldi Nejad, known by the title Oghlan Bakhshi, is one of the world’s most prominent Turkmen singers and players of Dutar, a long-necked two-stringed lute. When he was 9 years old, due to his bright talent and ability, Turkmen music authorities granted him the title Oghlan Bakhshi, meaning a person who has mastered the art of playing dutar and singing at a young age. He is only the second person in the last century to receive this title after the great master of Turkmen music Sakhi Jepbarov. Now based in the United States, Oghlan Bahkshi strives to conserve the rich musical traditions of Turkmenistan while introducing them to new audiences around the world.
Event recording will remain available on Twitch for re-streaming for 14 days. Please join us in-person or online. A short Q&A will follow the performance. Facebook event.
