OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Carriage Barn Music Series presents a performance by masters of West African music, Famoro Dioubaté and Yacouba Sissoko.

Enjoy the music of West Africa -- from Guinea, Mali, Senegal and beyond -- in this performance featuring balafon master Famoro Dioubaté and kora master Yacouba Sissoko. The balafon is a West African xylophone with rosewood keys mounted on a bamboo frame over gourd resonators. The kora is 21 stringed Mandinka harp made from a large calabash covered with cow skin. The concert will also include Bennington faculty Michael Wimberly on percussion. Come ready to dance!

Bennington College students, faculty and staff are exclusively invited to join this event in person in the Deane Carriage Barn. Guest attendance may also be arranged, with proof of vaccination and booster. Online streaming event is free and open to all.

Guests may also attend in person by arrangement. Bennington College requires that all guests be vaccinated and have the appropriate vaccine booster. To enter into a building on campus, guests are asked to complete a visitor form—ideally 24 hours before their arrival. Visitors who have not completed this form must show their ID & vaccination card before entering any campus buildings. Masking indoors is required in all shared spaces.
