Truth & Lies: Lecture Series

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | John Swomley will lecture on Day Care Sex Panic Cases: Child Witnesses and the Truth-seeking Function of our Legal System. He is a partner in a small law firm in Boston specializing in criminal defense, civil rights and civil liberties law, and is certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to try murder cases. He is a cooperating attorney for the ACLU of Massachusetts and serves on the board of Suffolk Lawyers for Justice, a nonprofit organization which provides court-appointed lawyers for all the Courts in the City of Boston. He also works with the National Center for Reason and Justice, another nonprofit which identifies and sponsors innocence cases, and he assisted in the exoneration of Bernard Baran, the first person convicted in the wave of day care panic cases that swept the country in the 1980's. For fun, he represents rappers, marijuana activists, guerrilla artists and tree huggers in his spare time.
