Carriage Barn Concert Series—Spring 2018
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Fragility is a work-in-progress that mines the dimensions of rhythm through music, dance, physics and technology created by composer/drummer Susie Ibarra.
Come to an intimate showcase where Ibarra is joined by choreographer/ dancer Souleymane Badolo in live experimentation. Their investigations form the core of a groundbreaking new interactive game commissioned by Asia Society and developed with Pioneer Works to be premiered in June 2018.
This work-in-progress includes multi-channel speaker installation and live music, choreographed and improvised movement, and custom built motion capture software featuring multi-percussion compositions with strings and electronics.
Fragility is created in collaboration with sound designer Justin Frye, lighting and stage designer Clifton Taylor, interactive programming by Tommy Martinez and Gregory Fox, and choreography and movement by Souleymane Badolo. Sound engineer for the Martha Hill performance is Curt Wells.
Fragility: An Exploration of Polyrhythms is commissioned by Asia Society’s Creative Common Ground, an initiative supported by a three-year grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, developed in partnership with the Pioneer Works’ Residency Program, and supported, in part, by a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant.
