OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | WANG Chen is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice integrates digital video, performance, 3D world-building, sculpture, costume fabrication and sound design. Through the layering of these mediums, WANG constructs immersive video installations that navigate transformation, perception, and the boundaries between reality and illusion. In their work, Wang uses crafted soundscape to guide viewers into an immersive experience where identity, ritual, and the act of seeing become fluid and unstable.  Born in 1991, WANG received a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University (2014) and an MFA in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology (2018). WANG’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Fotografiska Museum, 212 Photography Istanbul, Roswell Museum, Lauren Powell Projects, The Immigrant Artist Biennial, Alfred University, and Crosstown Arts. WANG has been awarded numerous fellowships and residencies, including the New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship (Interdisciplinary), MacDowell Fellowship, Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, NARS Foundation, and Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program. Wang is Assistant Professor of Art at Penn State University.
