Schedule of Events:
12:00 - 12:30 pm Welcome Remarks & First Year Experience Panel
12:30 - 1:15 pm Session 1
The Science of Maple Sugaring: This workshop “taps” into the sugar maple stand on Bennington’s campus where students make maple syrup from our local trees using old fashioned buckets and a wood-fired evaporator. We will explore the science of maple sugaring, including the tree physiology that makes sap run, the traditional ecological knowledge of Indigenous sugaring practices, and the impacts of climate change on sugar maples in Vermont. Presented by Caitlin McDonough MacKenzie, Biology faculty member.
  Session 2
Introduction to Animating Objects and Forms at Bennington: Four senior students will be showing work in progress, plus describing work in other areas such as Chinese, Public Action, CS, and printmaking. Additionally, one of those students and myself will describe collaborating on a faculty directed theatre production. Presented by Sue Rees, Drama faculty member.
  Session 3
The Literary Life: Reading & Writing at Bennington: In this session, prospective students will experience a deep dive into a short work of literature and partake in exercises that work towards creative writing and literary scholarship. We'll take time to go over the nuts and bolts of studying literature at Bennington College and how the writing and reading life intersect. Presented by Jenny Boully, Literature faculty member.
1:15 - 1:30 pm Break/Lounge Time
1:30 - 2:00 pm Student Work Share Space
Current Bennington students will share works in progress, past Field Work Terms, or exciting community building projects. This is the perfect chance to get a window into the opportunities Bennington students have, in both academics and activities.
2:00 - 3:00 pm Campus Tour: Take a Walk With Us
Bennington College Admissions Interns will take you on a video tour of campus. At the end of the tour, the interns will host a Q&A to address all of your questions about life at Bennington.

Current students, admissions counselors, and other college community members will be available throughout the event as well if you have questions.
