Demystifying the Art World Lecture Series
Creighton Baxter (b. 1990, Arizona, USA) is an artist exploring temporality, remembrance, and the sensorium through transforming images and gestures with repetition. She has created commissioned performances for Boston University and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA and has participated in exhibitions at Andrew Kreps Gallery, David Castillo, and Allen Memorial Art Museum amongst others. She has contributed illustrations to The Yale Review and Duke University Press and produced writing for Et al Projects, JB Blunk Estate, and Telematic Media Arts. Baxter received her BFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts and her MFA from Yale University. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Rocío Olivares (b. 1990, Santiago de Chile) is a multidisciplinary artist with a BFA from Universidad Católica de Chile and an MFA from Columbia University. Rocío’s work is focused on the asymmetrical distribution of power and information in the context of world globalization and the centralization of resources and power. Her work has been shown at venues such as: Dilalica (Barcelona, Spain); The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (NY, USA); The Drawing Center (NY, USA); Museum of Moving Image (NY, USA); MuseumsQuartier (Viena, Austria); Marinaro Gallery (NY, USA); Sean Kelly Gallery (NY, USA); The Jewish Museum (NY, USA); Museo de Artes Visuales (Santiago, Chile); Galería Bicentenario, Estación Mapocho (Santiago, Chile); Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Quinta Normal (Santiago, Chile), among others. Rocío was a resident at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2018) and the Whitney Independent Study Program (2018-19). She is the recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship (2015) and Becas Chile Scholarship (2016). She currently lives and works in Santiago, Chile.
