OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Akasha Rabut is a Filipina American photographer and educator from Kaua’i, Hawai’i, based in New Orleans, Louisiana and Hawai’i. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work explores multi-cultural phenomena and tradition. In 2020, she released her first book with Anthology Editions, titled Death Magick Abundance, a photography collection that celebrates 10 years post-hurricane Katrina.

Rabut founded the organization Creative Council, a mentoring program for young people working in the arts in New Orleans. She has ongoing projects working with and photographing The Caramel Curves, the first all-female black motorcycle club and the Southern Riderz, one of the 70 clubs of the “Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs” organizations. She has photographed for The New York Times, Vogue, and TIME Magazine, to name a few. Rabut has also worked commercially with some of the largest brands in the world from Apple to Google, Nike, and many others.
