This spiritually inspired performance piece was created by internationally acclaimed American composer and pioneer of interdisciplinary performance, Meredith Monk.
Intended to be neither a concert nor a theatrical presentation, the work uses Monk's musical compositions, dance, movement and texts from several world religions to create a contemporary ritual which celebrates the larger community of mankind and the power of the human spirit.
Originally created in 1996, this version has been recreated by Tom Bogdan, a longtime member of Monk's vocal ensemble and Bennington faculty member. He received Fulbright grants to teach Monk's work in Hungary, Brazil, the Philippines, India, and Ukraine.
Allison Easter, another member of Meredith Monk's vocal ensemble, joined the performers-Bennington Students, Staff and Faculty-to teach the dance segments.
