Housing
The cost of housing for the Field Work Term (FWT) period (January 6–February 14, 2025) is $800 and will be placed on your bill. The College is providing financial support for students who have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
After students have received their housing assignment via email, they will be notified by the Financial Aid office if they will receive a housing grant. Students with questions about this housing grant may reach out to finaid@bennington.edu for assistance.
We suggest that, if you are unsure of your FWT plans, you apply for housing. If you are approved for FWT housing but do not need it, you have until January 2, 2025 to cancel your request. If you do not cancel it by January 2, 2025 the FWT housing fee will remain on your student bill.
Meals
The Student Dining Hall will be closed during this period and students will need to prepare meals for themselves.
Student Employment
The College will be offering limited campus employment during the Winter Break and Field Work Term period. Winter positions will be posted on Handshake starting November 1 as they become available. Be sure to periodically check the job board section and use the “On-campus” filter to find these opportunities. Students seeking alternative employment may also consider applying to a wide range of paid, remote freelance listings on Handshake and Parker Dewey. For more information and support securing these positions, please book a career counseling or campus jobs advising appointment on Handshake.
Student Health Center
The Student Health Center will have limited hours during FWT. They will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 am–1:00 pm for in-person or telehealth appointments. Telehealth appointments outside of those hours can be scheduled on a case-by-case basis.
CAPS will be closed; this includes the on-call therapist. Students who need crisis support should contact the local crisis team United Counseling Service (UCS) at 802-422-5491. This service is available 24/7.
Students also have access to free tele-health therapy, medical, and health coaching sessions with TimelyCare.
Support groups and health and wellness related programming will be available over the winter. Please follow and utilize Student Health Promotion social media for specific information and keep a look out for additional information. Students may also schedule individual times with Ali Tartaglia, to assist with skill-based behavior change related to wellbeing. Please check with your pharmacy to make sure you have enough refills on file with them to last through the Field Work Term. If not, have the pharmacy send us a request for refills now.

Transportation
The Campus Shuttle will be available again this year with limited hours during Winter Break beginning December 16–January 1. A FWT shuttle will also be available from January 2–February 19.
Shuttle Schedule Information TBA, and will be available on the Transportation page.
Winter Residents Survey
As we look ahead to FWT and winter break, Student Health Promotion, the Office for Student Engagement, and a variety of other campus departments will be reaching out to you directly for your thoughts and feedback on the best ways we can provide support and programming throughout this time frame. Be on the lookout for more information and a survey addressing these and other questions in the coming weeks.
House Spaces
Buildings and Grounds will be doing work in houses throughout this time period. Staff will work to share large project work (i.e. painting common rooms) ahead of time so students are aware. It is very important that you remove all personal items from common rooms, hallway closets, kitchens, and bathrooms so that Buildings and Grounds can complete this work. Belongings left in any of these common spaces will be discarded.
