Michael Sylvan Robinson '89
Michael Sylvan Robinson is a nationally recognized contemporary fiber artist and arts educator. His artwork has been shown in galleries and exhibitions including the National Queer Arts Festival in San Francisco. Recently, Robinson’s sculptural garments, which evolved from his background as a costume designer and performance artist, moved outside for a nine-month public art installation in Baltimore, and his street art pieces can be spotted in his Bushwick neighborhood. He is a Brooklyn resident once more, serving as the Head of Arts at the Poly Prep School. Robinson supervises all arts programming from nursery through twelfth grade on two campuses, making a return home to the school at which he held his first teaching job in 1990! Michael Sylvan Robinson earned an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College (2008) and a BA from Bennington College (1989) with an emphasis in dance and drama.
