Mercedes Olea '88
Mercedes Olea began acting when she was 14 years old in Eugene O’Neill’s Ah Wilderness directed by José Quintero. Since then she has acted in more than 30 plays in Mexico City. She studied in UNAM, Mexico´s National University and won a Scholarship to study at Bennington College where she graduated as a Drama Major. She has continued her training with prominent Mexican teachers and directors and herself has taught acting in various schools. In 2017 she participated in 24hr Plays Mexico. Her most recent play was Lars von Trier´s Dogville and has done plays by international and Mexican authors. She has won various grants from the National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) and won awards as Best Upcoming Young Actress and Best Actress in a Monologue. She has also participated in various films and won an ARIEL (The Mexican Oscar) for a film called Jovenes Delincuentes.
