Grimes is an Irish/Greek theater, opera, and film designer based in New York whose awards include The Balsamo Grant for Emerging Immigrant Artists, The Irish Arts Design Award, Irish Times Theatre Award Nomination, The Onstage Critics Award, as well as multiple Lucille Lortels and Drama Desk nominations.
Her recent/forthcoming work includes: BROADWAY: Shucked!, director Jack O’Brien; I Need That, director Moritz von Stülpnagel; WESTEND: Theresa Rebeck’s MadHouse, director Moritz von Stülpnagel; Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical, director Lucy Moss.
In New York, Grimes has worked with companies such as the Roundabout, BAM, MTC, MCC, Playwrights Horizons, Atlantic, Ars Nova, Red Bull, Cherry Lane, The Pearl, Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, and La Mama.
Regionally her work has been seen at ART, Berkeley Rep, The Alley, Goodspeed Opera, OSF, The Wilma, Washington Shakes, Two River, Trinity Rep, Williamstown Theater Festival, Hudson Valley Shakespeare, Woolly Mammoth, Westport Playhouse, The Boston Lyric Opera, The Philadelphia Opera, and The Curtis School of Music. She has worked internationally at the Malthouse Theater, Melbourne, Traverse Theater, Edinburgh, Soho Theater, London, Abbey Theater, Dublin, and The Arts Center Abu Dhabi.
Grimes has been a guest artist and guest designer at Duke University, University of Rochester, Rutgers University, New York University, Brown-Trinity Graduate program, Fordham University, PPAS in NYC, and Trinity College Dublin. She has taught at Brown University (MFA program in directing), the University of Rochester, NYU Abu Dhabi, and Fordham University. She received her MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Grimes joined the Bennington faculty in Fall 2023.
