Sophie Nichols
Sophie Nichols is an architectural designer based in Brooklyn, where she works for GRT Architects. She holds an M.Arch from Cornell University and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.
Biography
Nichols is an architectural designer based in Brooklyn. She currently works for GRT Architects, where she is designing a large-scale, sustainable housing development. Prior to this, she was an associate at SO–IL, leading projects for cultural institutions with a focus on community engagement. She has worked at Studio Joseph, designing exhibitions for museums and libraries, and for Thomas Phifer and Partners, on a university student center. Sophie has taught at Pratt Institute and Cornell University. She came to architecture through studio art, and prior to her graduate degree worked at the Buckminster Fuller Institute, apprenticed as a tattoo artist, and operated a small aquaponic farm. She holds an M.Arch from Cornell and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. Nichols was a visiting faculty member at Bennington for Fall 2021.
