Megan Wolff is a public health practitioner and a subject matter expert on plastics and human health.

Biography

Wolff believes that plastic pollution is the most visible plume of petrochemical waste, and as such, it provides an opportunity to teach and mobilize people toward public action. Fossil fuel, pollution, climate change, and disease are tightly interwoven, and plastic is the perfect case study. She is dedicated to teaching about its impacts on humans and the ecosystem. She is passionate about helping people build the knowledge and relationships to find their footing in the climate fight.

Wolff received her doctorate in public health from Columbia University in 2011 and worked at Weill Cornell Medical College for many years. In 2021, she joined the staff of Beyond Plastics and served as its Health Policy Director until the end of 2024. During that time, she served on the Minderoo Commission on Plastics and Human Health, which released its authoritative report on the health consequences of plastic in March of 2023. She is a frequent public speaker and continues to teach a course on the subject at Bennington College. She also serves as a consultant at the Cottonwood Environmental Law Center in Bozeman, Montana, which successfully overturned the state’s ban on single-use plastic ordinances in 2024, setting a national precedent.

Dr. Wolff is a visiting faculty member at Bennington for Spring 2025.
