Linda MacKechnie

Linda MacKechnie works with Biology and Chemistry faculty and staff in the Dickinson Science Building to support students with their independent research project needs.
Biography
MacKechnie recently returned to Vermont, her home state, to reconnect with family and the beauty of New England. After receiving her B.A. (in Botany) from UVM, she spent time living and working in a number of states, broadening her research background. She spent a number of years working for an environmental consulting company in central Florida (ecology, hydrogeology, rare plant and animal surveys), a decade conducting evolutionary biology research in central North Carolina and in Washington D.C., and several years conducting conservation botany studies in southern California.
MacKechnie relocated from the greater Chicago area where she worked in the commercial horticulture industry studying seed physiology. She brings a rich diversity of bench and field research to support the Bennington College science faculty and students. MacKechnie joined Bennington as a Technical Instructor in Science in Spring 2025.
