Arthur Larson is a letterpress printer and compositor. He specializes in the fine press printing of artist’s books for a variety of clients. In addition, he teaches, gives workshops, and trains apprentices.

Biography

Larson has been a letterpress printer and compositor since 1979. He has a BA from Trinity College and trained with Harold McGrath at Pennyroyal Press and with Daniel Keleher at Wild Carrot Letterpress. Larson established his own press, Horton Tank Graphics in 1987, primarily to print fine press books for Leonard Baskin’s Gehenna Press. He is a contract printer who specializes in the fine printing of limited edition books and prints and has worked with many artists and publishers, including The Limited Editions Club, Granary Books, 21st Editions, and Two Ponds Press.  Larson has taught at Smith College and given numerous workshops. He is a member of The Society of Printers and the American Printing History Association. He lives and works in Hadley, Massachusetts and is an active member of the Book Arts community in the Pioneer Valley. Larson hosted a Bennington Field Work Term student in 2009 and was a visiting technologist at Bennington for spring 2015, he returned as a visiting faculty member in spring 2018.
