Message from Isabel Roche, Dean of the College
We at Bennington believe that the most significant learning is in response to questions of one's own making. From the time you arrive on campus in just a few short months from now, you will be asked to make inquiry central to your workâboth in individual classes and through the Plan Process. A Bennington education, through its philosophy and design, imbues wonder with form and purpose and equips students with intellectual dexterity and stamina of immeasurable value.
Before becoming Dean of the College, I spent a number of years as a faculty member in French. For me, teaching here has above all meant engaging in meaningful dialogue with students whose individuality and potential shine through and who develop the discipline to think and rethink, to compose and revise, to shape and reshape. Whatever the direction in which your studies move, faculty will serve as your teachers, advisors, and mentors, privileging a model of collaboration as they work and discover alongside you.
On behalf of the College, I welcome you most sincerely to Bennington.
