Faculty Member Liz Deschenes Among First Photographers Featured in Art Institute of Chicago's Modern Wing

Jul 20, 2009
A series of photos by faculty member Liz Deschenes have been selected for the first-ever photography exhibition to run in the new Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Contemporary Photograph Selections, a two-part installation of works anchored by Deschenes and Gaylen Gerber, is on display in the museum's new photography gallery through Monday, September 7.

"The nearly monochromatic creations of Gerber and Deschenes ... suggest a continuity between the photography gallery and the new building as a whole: a set of abstract, emphatically pristine hollows filled with the spectacle of art, people, and-through floor-to-ceiling picture windows-the city at large."
