Ethel Winter '45 Wins Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Dance

Ethel Winter '45, former director of The Julliard School's dance department, has been named the 2008 recipient of the Martha Hill Lifetime Achievement Award. While enrolled at Bennington, Winter studied under Hill, who was hired as the college's first dance department chair in 1932. Winter is also a disciple of modern dance pioneer and former faculty member Martha Graham. She will be honored at a presentation hosted by the Martha Hill Dance Fund on Dec.1.
