Kaori Washiyama

Violin/Viola Instructor

Biography

Washiyama has been a faculty member at her alma mater, the Kyoto University of Art and Music, and is founding director of a well-established chamber music series also in Japan. In addition to receiving numerous honors in her native country, she was first-prize winner of the Lipizer Violin Competition and recipient of the prestigious Rode Award in Italy. She is a core member of In the Music Room, which performs in distinguished music rooms throughout southern California. Other recent American appearances have taken place in Boston, New York, and San Francisco. Washiyama was a music instructor at Bennington from Spring 2006 to Spring 2022.
