Bennington College has a campus bookstore that sells supplies, apparel, snacks and beverages, and books authored by Bennington College faculty, alumni, and students. All textbooks and other course books are available through our virtual bookstore (hosted by MBS Direct), which carries used as well as new books. In addition to credit cards, students may use their Bennington Card, bookstore gift certificates, refund checks, or personal checks to purchase books from the virtual bookstore—simply contact the Business Office at 802-440-4458 (x4458 on campus) to secure a voucher. Virtual bookstore orders are shipped within 24 hours, directly to campus; returns are processed online and can be shipped from the campus bookstore.

Depending on the day and time, students may eat in Commons—which houses six dining rooms served cafeteria-style—or in the Student Center—which features the Snack Bar, with made-to-order grill and deli items, the Snack Bar Express, with meals to go, and the Student Center Bar, which serves beer and wine to persons 21 years of age and older with proper ID (valid license, passport, valid Vermont ID). While individual student computer ownership is in many ways important to the overall educational experience, Bennington College does not require students to have computers. However, students are strongly encouraged to bring computers with them to campus. The College’s fitness center, the Meyer Recreation Barn, features fitness equipment, a climbing wall, sauna, dance studio, and an aerobics room for yoga, tai chi, and other fitness classes. Outdoor facilities include tennis courts, a basketball court, and a soccer field. The Office of Student Life coordinates a range of intramural programs throughout the term. Bennington has an intercollegiate fencing team, and its soccer team competes against several local colleges each fall; both are co-ed. As a USPS contract station, the Bennington College post office can make the same transactions as any hometown post office: sell stamps, stamped envelopes, and regular postcards; mail certified and insured packages; provide postage for all foreign correspondence. In addition to USPS Express Mail, the post office can send items overnight via UPS or Federal Express.

We have a fax machine, and charge for both incoming and outgoing transmissions: domestic incoming/outgoing $1.00 per page; foreign incoming $1.50 per page; foreign outgoing $5.00 per page. These may be sent during the post office sales hours. Please be certain that you have the correct outgoing fax number. If you receive a fax, we will put a notice in your box. Post Office Rates
Effective January 27, 2013, the Post Office will be increasing its rates on domestic and international parcel shipping. Any packages priced by weight will be charged at the new rate as of this date, but the pricing for flat rate priority and express shipments will be changing as well (see rates).
