In its brief history, Bennington College has had an enormous impact on the intellectual and cultural life of America. In the 1930s, dancers flocked to Bennington to chart the course of modern dance. Visual artists gathered here in the 1950s and 60s to redefine the visual arts canon. In the 1980s and 90s, the College was a mecca for writers eager to push the edges of literature. Today, Bennington is a hub for innovators in every field including those who want to apply their individual talents to addressing global concerns. This fertile spot in southern Vermont has become a point of convergence for those who want to collaborate and create, to make something new, to do what they never—or always—imagined.
Gifts to The Bennington Fund support our students by not only providing scholarships, but also the space to create and the resources and equipment they need to do their best work. That includes journal subscriptions for Crossett, lab equipment in Dickinson, costumes and set pieces in VAPA, and instruments of all kinds. It also supports our faculty members who are dedicated to their teaching, their craft, and their shared discoveries.
Thank you to the 2,046 donors who made a gift last fiscal year (our fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30). This year, our goal is to inspire alumni and parents from across the decades join together in supporting our current students through gifts to Bennington Fund because it is only when the entire community stands together that to true potential of the Bennington education can be realized. If you haven’t yet made your gift, we invite you to join your fellow classmates and peers by making a gift today. Individually, your gift signals your belief in Bennington’s enduring values and the power of a Bennington education. Collectively, you have the power to make extraordinary opportunities possible for our students. Thank you.
